were valuable, but now I
consider them worthless
because of what Christ has done."
Philippians 3:7
so the Christmas lists grow.
and grow.
and grow.
and nothing
is inherently
wrong with lists.
we give to those we
love because God has
given the greatest gift:
Jesus.
yet when the lists become
more important than the Reason
we even have a reason to make a list,
perhaps something is off balance.
I can speak for no one but myself.
and I have crossed the oh so
fine line between
Christmas lists
and the reason
for Christmas
too many times.
this year I am making
very small lists for
a number of
reasons.
and with this, I feel a sense
of relief, for if it is truly about
"...what Christ has done"
there cannot be too little.
nor can there be too much,
as long as the heart is
in the right place.
and when the heart is
in the right place,
all that we have
will be shared with
the many who have so little.
and the love which that
little baby brought to earth
lives on and on through each of us.
"what can I give Him, poor as I am?
if I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb.
if I were a wise man, I would do my part.
yet what can I give Him;
give Him my heart."
