the remains of what
was once a flourishing tree,
providing shade from the sun
and shelter from the rain.
a place of joy and laughter
as children climb high and
a swing flies higher.
a home for birds and squirrels
and a host of other creatures
all depending on the life
of that tree to sustain
their own lives.
now that tree is no more
and a stump remains.
no longer a place
of life.
but oh the beauty
to be found in
places least
expected!
beauty simple.
beauty stunning.
beauty stirring.
"Out of the stump of David's family
will grow a shoot -
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from
the old root."
Isaiah 11:1
and this shoot...this new Branch
is Jesus.
beauty simple.
beauty stunning.
beauty stirring.
beauty found where
least expected
and perhaps where
least deserved.
God's whisper reaching
down from heaven to a manger
spoke of love extravagantly beautiful.
of a love knowing no limits or boundaries.
and that love reaches out always in
beauty simple.
beauty stunning.
beauty stirring.
if only we will
see with our ears
and listen with our eyes.
allow that love to
embrace you in
this time of waiting.
